Adam Larkin is an individual with shared experience of recovery from co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders.
Working inside the Missouri Department of Corrections for three years, Adam served as an Inmate Reentry coordinator, facilitator and Inner Change Freedom Initiative program member. In 2012, Adam founded Out of Egypt life Recovery in St. Joseph, Missouri, facilitating recovery groups for individuals and their family members struggling with Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders. A graduate of the Hillcrest Transitional Housing Program of Buchanan County as well as a former Hillcrest Residential Manager, Adam is passionate about the co-occurring Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder needs of the States recovery community & homeless population.
Adam began working as a Peer Specialist and training in Peer Supports with P.E.E.P.’s In Recovery of Stone Co., he currently serves as a member of the Greene County Treatment Court team as a Peer Mentor and Recovery Coach.
Adam works as the Recovery Education and Peer Support Director for the intensive outpatient treatment program at Recovery Outreach Services, LLC. in Springfield, MO. Training and supervising the Peer Support team, he also instructs and develops recovery based education for peers and Peer Support Specialists.
Adam holds an International Certified Peer Recovery credential through IC&RC; a Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor II & Certified Reciprocal Peer Recovery credential through the Missouri Substance Abuse Professional Credentialing Board; and Mental Health First Aid Instructor credential through the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
Together with his wife Shelena, they have founded Exodus Life Recovery and will be opening the doors of a stabilization-recovery-transitional housing program in Springfield, MO. In early 2018.
