David Stoecker, LCSW, MRSS-P, MAADC II, CGRS is a person in long-term recovery. For him that means he has not used alcohol or other drugs since January 31st of 2009 and because of that he has a positive impact on his community today. He is currently the Advocacy and Education Outreach Coordinator for the Missouri Recovery Network. He was a counselor for Preferred Family Healthcare working with the Greene County Treatment Courts for 8 years. David turned a GED he got in prison into an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Work. He is the 2017 Missouri Mental Health Champion for Recovery. He is the director of Better Life in Recovery and a co-founder of the Springfield Recovery Community Center. He sits on the State Advisory Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the planning committee for the Department of Mental Health’s Consumer Conference,  the Citizen’s Advisory Board to Greene County Probation and Parole and the Recovery Coalition of the Ozarks. He is a loving husband to an incredible wife who is far out of his league and a father to two amazing children. David’s passion is talking about his personal recovery and teaching people about substance use disorders and the power of recovery, which he has done at multiple conferences, schools, colleges, churches and communities.
